Below are the different types of non-immigrant visas:
- A visa: foreign government officials and employees such as ambassadors, public ministers, or career diplomats.
- B visa: people coming for a short while -- usually less than one year.
B-1 - is business trips.
B-2 - is for vacations. - E visa: treaty-traders and treaty-investors who want to trade or invest in a U.S. busniess.
- F visa: full-time students in U.S. colleges, universities, seminaries (religious schools), and language programs.
- G visa: representatives of international governmental orgnaizations - such as the World Bank or the United Nations
- H visa: people coming here for a specfic amount of time -- usually 3-6 years. Most have a bachelors degree from a university.
- H-1: experts in business, science, or the arts.
- H-2: people with temporary jobs in specific fields.
- H-3: people in training programs. - J visa: students, researchers, professors, and teachers -- such as scientsists for the National Institutes of Health.
- K visa: men or women engaged to marry U.S. Citizens and their children
- L visa: employees who are transferred to the U.S.
- M visa: students studying at a vocational school to prepare for a job. The school cannot be a language school, a college, or a unviersity.
